Move your mail to Kistrl
Bring mail from your old provider, use your own domain, or keep copies elsewhere.
Bring mail from your old provider
You do not have to change your address everywhere on the first day.
- Open Settings, then Forwarding.
- Under Bring mail from your old provider, copy your import-only address.
- In your old provider’s settings, turn on automatic forwarding to that address.
Mail forwarded this way goes into your normal mailbox. It is never forwarded outward again, which prevents a loop between the two services.
Use your own domain
Open Settings, then Domains, to use a domain you own for email. Create your first address, then follow the DNS steps Kistrl shows you.
- Add the ownership record at your DNS provider.
- Check DNS and wait for Ready to receive before you switch any mail.
- When you are ready to move incoming mail, replace your old MX records with Kistrl’s MX record.
Checks run automatically, and your website’s DNS records stay unchanged. Sending from the domain becomes active once the remaining DNS checks pass.
Custom-domain activation may not be switched on for your Kistrl service yet. Settings tells you when that is the case. You can save a domain, but wait until Kistrl is ready before changing your MX records.
Keep copies somewhere else
In Settings, then Forwarding, you can keep copies of new incoming mail at up to five addresses you control. Originals stay in Kistrl.
- Each destination must be verified with a code before forwarding starts.
- Forwarding applies to new arrivals only. Turning it back on does not send a backlog.
- Spam and delivery notices are not forwarded.
