Terms of service

About these terms

Kistrl is an email service operated by Okaimden Technologies inc. (“Kistrl”, “we”), at the address under Contact. These terms apply when you create a Kistrl account or use the service. If you do not agree with them, do not use Kistrl.

Your account

• A Kistrl account belongs to one person. Your username becomes your Kistrl email address.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we close it and delete its data.
• Give us accurate information where we ask for it, and tell us if you believe someone else has used your account.

Your mail and content

The mail you receive and send, your drafts, attachments, contacts, calendar events and tasks are yours. We handle them only to provide the service: to receive, store, display, search and deliver your mail, to check incoming mail for spam, and to fetch external content when a message needs it.

We do not sell your content and we do not use it for advertising. The privacy policy describes what we store and why.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Kistrl to:

• send spam, bulk unsolicited mail or mail with forged sender details;
• send or store malware, phishing, or content that is illegal where you or we are;
• harass, threaten or impersonate other people;
• probe, overload or disrupt the service, or try to reach another person’s account or mail.

To protect the service and its reputation with other mail providers, sending is limited to 100 messages per hour for each account.

Addresses and domains

• You may create additional addresses, including privacy addresses. A cancelled privacy address stops working for good and is never given to anyone else.
• If you connect your own domain, you confirm that you control it. Mail for that domain depends on DNS records you maintain.
• We may refuse or reclaim a username that impersonates someone, infringes a right, or was reserved for the operation of the service.

Price

Kistrl Personal starts with a free trial of 30 days. It needs no card. You pay only if you subscribe, yearly or monthly, in Settings, under Billing. The current prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout, before you pay. Stripe processes payments.

• A subscription renews each period until you cancel it in Settings, under Billing. It then runs until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund the unused part.
• If the trial ends without a subscription, your account becomes read-only. Mail keeps arriving, and you can read, export and delete it. Subscribe and everything works again.
• If a payment fails, sending and uploads pause after 14 days and the account becomes read-only after 60 days. Mail keeps arriving, and you can read, export and delete it.
• If you cancel after paying for a year in total, your address keeps forwarding new mail to an address you choose.
• We tell you in advance before a price change affects you, and it applies from your next renewal.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Kistrl available and your mail safe, but we do not promise that the service will never be interrupted. We may add, change or remove features. When a change materially reduces what you can do, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

Email depends on other providers and networks. We cannot guarantee that a message you send will be accepted by its recipient’s provider, or that every message sent to you will reach us.

Closing your account

You may stop using Kistrl at any time. To delete your account, open Settings, then Security, then Delete account. The account closes at once, and 15 days later we delete it and everything in it; until then you can restore it from the sign-in screen. If you cannot sign in, write to hello@okaimden.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other people at risk, or where the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to retrieve your mail.

Liability

Kistrl is provided as it is and as it is available. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit or lost opportunity. Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including liability for intentional or gross fault or for bodily harm. Keep a copy of any mail or file you cannot afford to lose: you can export them at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of the judicial district of Montreal have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. If you are a consumer, mandatory protections of the country where you live continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new date, and for material changes we will notify you by a message to your Kistrl address before they take effect. If you keep using Kistrl after that date, the new terms apply.
